On Thursday 19th May in the morning a specially dispatched Gustav Mahler Express went from Prague Main Station He drove down nearly 500 musicians, who were applauded the evening before the departure the sold out O2 arena after Mahler's gigantic Symphony of Thousands, conducted by German conductor Christoph Eschenbach at the 100th anniversary of Mahler´sdeath. Management of the Prague Spring Festival for the first time in history has prepared this ambitious project. That is an extraordinary achievement, which requires in addition to the stellar cast and great organizational background, confirmsone of the producers of the international team Daniel Sobotka: "The project was preparing for four years. It must begin with the idea, then in the calendars of all potential performers to align production details.”
The director and choirmaster of the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri Pavel Horák just before departure answered some questions of the journalists. The choir traveled together with other artists, including their contemporaries from Knabenchor Hannover. "We're leaving for Germany with great anticipation. A Mahler´s work we don´t meet for the first time. One yoear ago, we participated at the gala concert MahlerGala to the 150th anniversary of his birth. Exacting Mahler´s scores can be studied without knowledge of historical context. That´s why we cooperate with PhDr. Jiří Štilec, a perfect musicologist and a great teacher,” adds Pavel Horák.
The 8th Symphony can the audience hear on Friday in Hamburg and in the acoustic version on Saturday in Hannover, too. All transfer documents German television. In Hamburg were sold over 9500 tickets. It is expected that the monumental Mahler´s Symphony of Thousands will be heard and seen by more than 17000 people.

May 18, 2011 • Boni pueri lighted up on the biggest concert in the history of the Prague Spring, 4500 excited hearers applauded them

Two orchestras, six choirs, soloists - almost 500 participants from 13 countries rised to the podium in Prague´s O2 Arena in the largest concert program in the history of the Prague Spring ever. With the last notes of a monumental 8th Symphony of Gustav Mahler, which was conducted by an excellent German Conductor Christoph Eschenbach, the audience began to applaud and to appreciate the performance of artists. On Wednesday, the Prague Spring Festival reminded the centenary anniversary of Gustav Mahler´s death. This unique event in the history of the festival was already several months in the interest of Czech and foreign media.
"We were approached to perform this monumental work by the production of the Prague Spring and we were happy to accept this offer. It's a great challenge for us and also a huge responsibility. This concert belongs to our gold fond and it will be very difficult to find some bigger challenge. Mahler's 8th symphony is a noble work, the author himself called it his greatest and unearthly,” says director and choirmaster of the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri Pavel Horák.
For this project were also invited the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, North German Radio Orchestra from Hamburg, Knabenchor Hannover, Prague Philharmonic Choir, Kühn´s Mixed Choir, Schleswig-Holstein Festival Choir from Lübeck and North German Radio Choir. For the solo parts have been approached, inter alia, Simona Houda-Šaturova, Michael Kaune Petra Lang, Michael Nagy and John Relyea.
"The matter of principal is that Mahler created a symphony, where the main instrument is the human voice. This aspect of humanity is most important to me. The work has an incredible spiritual dimension and I am glad that I can cooperate with the world's great orchestras and choirs. It's a great pleasure for me and Mahler would be glad that his music brings together the nations, "said the conductor Ch. Eschenbach.
The "Good boys" have experienced wonderful moments after the concert, when this energetic conductor stepped out from the stage directly into the labyrinth of dressing rooms of artists, and despite being continuously contacted with a request to interview or photograph, he looked for their dress room at first.
"You're the first whom I´d like to thank and I'm going to pass a real compliment. Boni pueri were great, excellent throughout the whole time and joining exactly, thank you. Huge thanks to you, Mr conductor, " he said with a symbolic bow and already he agreed to a photo. Appreciation was given to thirty best soprano and altos of the choir by the solo singer Simona Houda-Šaturová, who already cooperated in the past with our choir.
Mahler´s Symphony of Thousands, how the work is also called, the organizers moved because of its space heftiness into the unconventional O2 Arena. "The space of the arena is comparable to the three churches of St. Vitus and six congress halls of the Prague Congress Centre," says a representative of the festival production. Due to space, the soloist had to be good sounded. This is something new for the classical music, too.
"Something so impressive here in the Czech Republic still has not happened - I mean to sound five hundred performers. All work was discussed with the Hamburg radio engineers, who are responsible for "mixing" the orchestras, and above all, of course, supervised the conductor Christoph Eschenbach," said Ing. Pavel Jesenský, whose team has ensured sound.
Wednesday's performance of Mahler´s Symphony of Thousands would enthuse the composer. He was one of uncompromising conductors, who could not tolerate unprofessionalism of the musicians. In the Vienna Opera, he earned the nickname "monster". All the people had to be prepared perfectly and they had to work hardly and flawless. In the case of the Prague´s performance of the symphony both things were filled, as the report on the site www.ct24.cz says. Among the spectators were many foreigners, and Czech musicians like the violinist Pavel Šporcl and the harpest Kateřina Englichová.
A dream of a giant and nations joining Symphony of Thousands, which came up in the team of the Prague Spring four years ago, was during the intensive preparations turned from ambitions and wishes into a monumental concert with star performers. Due to an incredible enthusiasm, concentration and professionalism as a director of the Prague Spring Festival Roman BĚLOR, this year's dramatic Antonin Matzner, production managers, of which mention or at least Jiří Konopásek or Daniel Sobotka, and their colleagues we could see an unique experience.
The largest concert in the history of the Prague Spring Festival confirmed the composer's optimistic words: "My time will come." Work with such great spiritual dimension can be understood as a challenge to the modern world to return to these values.

May 15, 2011 • "Good Boys" started a set of rehearsals to perform the 8th Symphony of Gustav Mahler at the Prague Spring

May 12, 2011 • The Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri will perform at the biggest concert in the history of the Prague Spring

Today, in the Smetana Hall of Municipal House, will be inaugurated the 66th year of the prestigious Prague Spring Festival. In the center of attention throughout the world of music is primarily the performance of the 8th Symphony in E flat major by Gustav Mahler, which should commemorate the centennial of the composer's death. In respect of the quantity of the performing artists the 8th Symphony of Gustav Mahler is one of the biggest works of the classical music ever. Because of the giant musician´s and singer´s powers the symphony will often be called “Symphonya of Thousands”.
"On the anniversary of the death, on 18th May on a gala ceremony will be performed the monumental 8th Symphony of Gustav Mahler, where besides the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra will also participate another big orchestra, the NDR Sinfonieorchester from Hamburg, Germany. Besides an international group of vocal soloists the Prague Pjhilharmonic Choir, chiors from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and our czech boys´ choir Boni pueri will participate on this concert,” said one of the organizers Pavel Trojan.

Since Saturday the 14th May take place demanding rehearsals, so the soprano and alto singers from the Czech Boys Chor Boni pueri “moved” for a week to Prague. Together with the another artists the “good boys” move after the Prague´s concert with a special train to Hamburg and then to Hannover, Germany, where they please the German audience with Mahler´s 8th Symphony, too. March 29, 2011 • Boni pueri sends more than 100,000 Kč to Japan from its charity concert

On the 29th of March the charity concert "Boni pueri helps Japan" took place in the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the big square in Hradec Králové. The tragic natural disaster which struck this beautiful country, brought forth a wave of solidarity and various forms of aid throughout our whole republic.
"The Japanese people are very proud. Everything that has happened to their country, they have faced with immense humility. That is why the boys of Boni pueri want to help our Japanese friends in the way we are best able - namely through song, and especially today with Japanese songs." So said the choir director Pavel Horák in his short introduction. "Today's concert is truly exceptional, exceptional in that the performers are those who have had beautiful experiences in Japan, and those for whom Japan is home. In this moment as I, uncharacteristically for a choir director, face our public, I feel a great joy that our charity concert has received such great support. From the moment that the first sad reports arrived from Japan many of you offered us your help, and for this we once again thank you," he added in his address to the more than six-hundred attendees. The vocal group Gentlemen Singers and two Japanese violinists from the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, Megumi Tokosumi and Natsuko Broučková Ogushi also accepted the invitation of the "Good Boys."
The leadership of the Czech boys choir Boni pueri, which has successfully toured Japan for more than ten years, and which has built there strong musical and personal ties, got in touch with, Mrs. Sasaki, the director of the agency Ars Tokyo through their exclusive manager for Japanese tours, JUDr. Václav Bechyně. After some negotiation, it was decided that the financial assistance that was collected at the concert today will go to help the school in the city of Taga-jo in the Mijagi Prefecture. This school, in which Boni pueri performed and has friends, suffered great damage. The school's hall today serves as an evacuation center. The region now suffers, first of all, a lack of drinking water.
"...I'm pleased to tell you that today's concert carries no expenses, and all of the money that was collected here today will be sent in the coming days to Japan. I would like to take this opportunity to mention all of those who offered to sponsor us with gifts and service, and without whom this concert would not have been possible. First of all, we sincerely thank the Hradec Králové Rotary Club who raised a contribution from their members in the considerable amount of 20,500 Kč. We thank Czech Radio Hradec Králové for their media support. The firm DUKASE which printed the posters at their own expense, and the firm Rengl which arranged for a marked discount on their placement. The firm Petrov rented us this beautiful piano at no expense, as well as shouldering the burden of its transport. We also thank Mr. František Najman, who tuned the piano for free. Thanks also go to the Hradec Králové Bishopric which arranged for the free use of this beautiful church. And of course, to all the performers, choir members, the Gentlemen Singers, both members of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, the choir directors and pianists, who gave up their honorariums," went the closing remarks, during which state notary Hana Kulhánková certified the amount collected for the aid of Japan at 108, 300 Kč and 10 euros. Before the final piece, the Nella Fantasia by E. Morricone, as arranged by V. Popelka, Father Karel Moravec appealed to all present to join him in a moment of silence and prayer.
At the request of our Japanese agency, a DVD was made of today's concert, which will be screened in the affected areas of Japan as a message of support that the Czech people and Boni pueri will not forget Japan in its time of need.

March 28, 2011 • Boni pueri continues its series of educational concerts

Monday morning in the church of Saints Simon and Judy in Prague was dedicated to a educational concert for students of basic and middle schools. The Czech boys choir Boni pueri presented not only a portion of their standard concert repertoire, which choir director Pavel Horák accompanied with a short expert commentary, but first of all the children's opera from Terezín, "Brundíbár." The "Good Boys" have performed this work many times in various cities in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and in distant Japan. The project series, "Music against violence - sing Brundíbár with us" was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and was financed for the second time by the endowment for victims of the holocaust. Hans Krása and Adolf Hoffmeister wrote the opera in 1938, and it was subsequently modified by Krása for children in the Terezín concentration camp. There are two versions of the opera. Because the first Prague version, which was found after 30 years, was written for many instruments, the Terezín version had to be considerably more modest - the base of the play remaining the piano. Just so, Boni pueri sang only with the accompaniment of their pianist Jitka Fowler Fraňková, and under the direction of their choir director Pavel Horák. Thus they brought to the podium a simple story which carries an essential message - human freedom is the highest value of mankind. The opera is a clear refutation of violence and cruelty against any and all races and nations.
The focused attention of the audience testified to the fact that the "Good Boys" well conveyed the the work's main idea to their peers.
"At the request of the organizers, we last performed Brundíbár in Japan in December of last year, and this year we will continue our series of educational concerts in Bohemia. We are glad that it is greeted warmly, not only by teachers, but also by state institutions and associations. Everything flows naturally and peacefully, and thanks to that there is hope that the main idea of the piece will reach the hearts of our young audience," added choir director Pavel Horák.

March 27, 2011 • Boni pueri's spring concert brings new surprises and beautiful musical experiences

The start of spring saw the coming together of all of the groups of the Czech boy's choir Boni pueri in the Hradec Králové Philharmonie. The concert, which was sold out a week before, had a completely new setup, which saw an untraditional mixing together of the younger singers and the concert choirs. The wonderful group Musica Florea, under their director Mark Štryncl accepted Boni pueri's invitation to participate in the concert as well. Boni pueri has already collaborated with this excellent group for ten years, and this cooperation, in addition to other rewards, brought a prestigious award from the Cannes Classical Awards for the recording of the piece Sub olea pacis, by Jan Dimas Zelenka, and culminated last fall in Mark Štryncl's becoming a second choir director of Boni pueri.
Played together were part of Mozart's Coronation Mass in C major - Gloria, responsorium from the cycle of Easter by J. D. Zelenka - Sicut ovis, and finally, Rejcha's monumental Te deum, which was received by the audience to thunderous applause.
However, not only our concert choirs sang with our distinguished guests. Even our youngest Pueri's thrilled the audience with their focus under their choir director Taťana Slezaková and the perfect accompaniment of the orchestra. Future soloists are already budding among them. Choir director Monika Kadlecová, who arrived at the concert directly from the final round of the competition for our republic's favorite teacher, showed with her boys in Pueri 2 that the Boni pueri spring fairytale yet continues. The moment when the Boninfates group sang the first notes of the John Lennon song "Yesterday," nobody needed to introduce our oldest groups of singers. The perfectly intoned, two-voiced composition was introduction enough.
The collage of folks songs by O. Jeremiáš, accompanied by the non-traditional choreography and newly modified folk-costumes that we took with us on our recent tour of Japan, were met with much enthusiasm. Musica Florea's solo performances were likewise a big hit.
There were moments of simple human feeling and recollection as Japanese compositions movingly, and with pride, filled the entire auditorium.
"None of us shall forget the 11th of March. In those unhappy lands are our friends, and we want, at least symbolically, to help," came the words of the young soloist.
Just a few weeks ago we watched the film from distant Japan, where Boni pueri and their Choir director Pavel Horák toured for more than five weeks. "We have heard that the school in the city Taga-jo where we performed has suffered great damage. It causes us great pain that some of the children with whom we sang and formed friendships are still missing. Our agency Ars Tokyo will channel our assistance primarily to this city. The director of this agency, Mrs. Sasaki, has requested that we make a DVD of our benefit concert, which will take place on March 28, in the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. They would like to send this out to people in evacuation centers and on Japanese television as a symbol of our sympathy and solidarity with the people who have suffered this calamity," Horák said, reminding those in attendance of the planned charity concert to help Japan.
Each year the Japanese people await the opening of the cherry blossoms with the first warm weather. Festivals called Hanami celebrate the beauty of these blossoms and for many Japanese are opportunities to relax and calm their minds. That Boni pueri has a composition with the name of these flowers in its repertoire, is therefore no surprise. In a symbolic gesture, and so that even the youngest singers could joyfully take part, the choir directors chose for the grand finale of the spring concert the Czech composition "Trees."

March 17, 2011 • Boni pueri help for Japan

The Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri express their concern for their Japanese friends. Two weeks ago at a public presentation the singers and their parents, friends, and distinguished guests, celebrated the beautiful moments of the five-week tour of Asia, which took place at the end of last year.
Currently, Japan is facing the consequences of a strong earthquake and tsunami - the greatest disaster since the Second World War. Immediately after this tragic event The Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri began preparing a charity concert.
"The reports coming from Japan, are very sad. The catastrophe that hit this hospitable country has certainly left a strong impression on us all. We understand the organization of the charity concert to be our moral obligation. Indeed, the areas affected by the disaster are some of those in which we toured in the winter. Our friends are there whose schools and home we visited, and we are bound to these places by our beautiful musical projects and extraordinary experiences. Proceeds from the concert will go to the agency, which for more than a decade has prepared these beautiful tours for our boys. The agency will use these funds mainly for children from the choirs, where we toured, to provide for their basic needs, according to the current situation in the country," says choirmaster and director of Boni pueri Pavel Horák.
The concert, called Boni pueri helps Japan, will be heard in the St. Mary Church on the main square in Hradec Králové on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at 6:00 pm. The Vocal Ensemble Gentlemen Singers, whose members are alumni of Boni pueri, and who, during their time with the boys' choir toured Japan with conductor Pavel Horák, accepted Boni pueri's invitation to perform at the benefit as did two Japanese violinists, Megumi Tokosumi and Natsuki Broučková Ogushi, who perform in the Hradec Králové Philharmonic.
"Boni pueri has performed in its time in many benefit concerts, which are a traditional part of the program plan of the choir. For the first time, however, the aim of our help is abroad. Its goal is legible and specific. We send it to our friends. We all feel that we seek not only to send financial assistance, but also participate in the difficult moments, that this island country is experiencing. Therefore, we will also perform the Japanese compositions which were so warmly received by Japanese audiences at the concert," says Pavel Horák.

March 2, 2011 • Great Hall of the University was overflowing

The Great Hall of the University was overflowing. On the campus, the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri presented their successful five-week tour to Japan and South Korea, which took place at the end of last year and was one of the most successful tours in their history. More than 500 supporters and friends of the choir had the opportunity to watch a documentary shot by the singers themselves and view an exhibition of photographs from the tour. Invitations were accepted by prominent guests - The Agency ArcoDiva´s Director Dr. Jiří Štilec, manager of the Asian Tour JUDR. Václav Bechyně, Ing. Jaroslav Syrový, Member of Parliament, Dr. Pavel Staněk and composer Sylvie Bodorová, director of Czech Radio Hradec Králové Mgr. Jiří Kánský, president of the Rotary Club Ing. Jiří Štěpánek, and representatives of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice regions, and the city of Hradec Králové.
"The Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri stands on four solid pillars. The first are our boys, singers, with whom we can work on projects and beautiful visions. They are our security and stability. The other pillar are the parents of our singers, without whose dedication, enthusiasm and support we could not work. I cannot forget our cantors and other agencies, and the directors of other orchestras, who support us and prepare concerts and tours," said the choirmaster and director of Boni pueri Pavel Horák in an opening speech. He and the boys answered the questions of a Czech Radio reporter and the present journalists. Boni pueri traveled the Asian continent for the sixth time in its existence, and fulfilling the wishes of the tour's organizers, they presented works by Czech and world composers, arrangements of folk songs and carols from around the world.
"I am proud that my son is currently a member of a significant choir like Boni pueri undoubtedly is. The boys are getting a really high standard of education, and I believe that the investment that the parents have made in the the boys, and their support of them, will certainly bring rewards in the future. As a former representative of this city, I am very pleased that in our town we have a musical ensemble, which we call the silver of Hradec," said Member of Parliament, JUDr. Pavel Staněk, who arrived at the meeting directly from a hearing of the Parliament, in a short speech.
Boni pueri have wonderful memories of their concert in Tokyo's St. Mary Cathedral, which was already sold out many weeks in advance, and where were heard the songs Ave Maria, Verdi's Nabucco, and Dvorak's Mass in D major. Among their unforgettable experiences is also included their performance in a live broadcast on Korean TV.
"When we were preparing the monumental project Mahler Gala, where the greatest aces of world music performed, and which was broadcast by many television companies around the world, no one doubted for a moment, who should sing the choral parts - Boni pueri was the first choice," said Dr. Jiří Štilec.
For many years the "good boys", have been working with, Jaroslav Krček, the artistic director of the orchestra Musica Bohemica. Boni pueri even took his work, Blábolinky, with them to perform before Japanese and Korean audiences, where it found great success. However, at the time of this grand event, he was conducting the premiere of his oratorio, and thus his greetings arrived from the big screen: "As in life itself, the way to the beautiful music should be direct, aiming always higher, and whatsoever on the path that may be bad, should be left by the wayside, and you should never look back. Your ´Commanders´, dear fellows, have served well and wisely, and I wish you that Boni pueri shall long make beautiful music as only they can... I look forward to the performance of our opera, which we are preparing together."
The immediate plans of the Hradec boys and their conductors Pavel Horák and Marek Štryncl include their presentation in the largest project of the Prague Spring, a concert as part of Czech Dreams, under the auspices of Vaclav Havel, a European and Asian tour, and a new CD.
"Boni pueri in Latin means the good guys. But the translation has another meaning. It can also be interpreted as high in quality. I am glad for my opportunity to collaborate with the Czech boys choir Boni pueri," added Jiří Štilec, director of the agency ArcoDiva, at the event's conclusion.

March 1, 2011 • Boni pueri were guests of Czech Radio 2

Tonight, Boni pueri accepted an invitation to the second studio of Czech Radio. In the hour-long live broadcast of the program Domino they answered the moderator's and audience's questions. They also introduced their next planned projects and the international tours that will take place up to the end of the school year. The most important project of Czech cultural scene this year will definitely be a performance of Mahler's monumental 8th Symphony - Symphony of a Thousand - at the Prague Spring festival. Boni pueri will perform along with the Czech Philharmonic and the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra of Hamburg. "Given that on the stage at one point there will be about 600 musicians, for the first time in festival history, the concert will be located in the multi-functional Prague 02 Arena. Then, the whole colossus with all the performers go by a special train to Hamburg and Hannover arenas. “Both of them are already sold out," says choirmaster and director of Boni pueri Pavel Horák. February 26, 2011 • Performance of Leonard Bernstein´s third Symphony - Kaddish judged by the critics as spectacular

Early this year, at the invitation of one of the world's best conductors, Leoš Svárovský, Boni pueri performed in Bernstein´s Third Symphony “Kaddish”. Their performance was appreciated not only by the listeners in the hall, who gave a long standing ovation, but also by the experts. “Indeed, the concert of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic on Thursday, January 13, 2011 was a unique dramaturgical enterprise which would be the envy of many renowned music metropoles. On the program was the third Symphony Leonard Bernstein's "Kaddish".
Along with the Philharmonic Orchestra performed Kühn Mixed Choir, led by Marek Vorlíček, the Boys Choir from Hradec Králové Boni pueri with conductor Pavel Horák, the soloists of this evening were soprano Jan Wallingerová, and in the role of narrator Mrs. Soňa Červená. Bernstein's symphony "Kaddish" is a magnificent musical canvas. In fact it is rather a dramatic musical fresco, in which the vocal component plays a huge role. The Choirs managed their highly difficult parts very well...”
said Michael Novenko, an organist and music critic, in his review.
At thirty "good boys" - sopranos and altos - have managed to cope with the demands of the work. Their success is even more notable in that some of them are only at the start of their musical knowledge.
"The conductor had the co-ordination of the changing rhythms and aleatoric sections firmly under control. Gradually it became a continual brightening of the sound and the core melodic idea emerged from the dramatic dissonant areas with tremendous effect, as close to Bernstein´s musical melodies as it is far from all indications of any trashy glibness.
The whole performance was really spectacular. The prolonged standing ovation was not only a well-deserved reward for the excellent performance artists – they are also confirming that an educated and receptive audience can appreciate high quality music. These extraordinary projects can be presented to audiences, too,”
says Michal Novenko.

February 23, 2011 • Boni pueri at the baptism of a book of poetry

The baptism of the third book of poetry of photographer, journalist, and media analyst Tomáš Zdechovský took place at the jazz club Satchmo in Hradec Králové. The mayor of Hradec Králové MUDr., Zdeněk Fink, became the godfather of this slender book of verses, which critics described as groundbreaking and provocative. A small ensemble of the best singers of the Boni pueri concert group started this festive meeting and complemented the author's reading with very carefully selected works. During the evening, the “good boys” excelled in a number of entries, and, among others, participated in the author's and VIP guests' request for a poetry recitation. Composer, teacher and former culture minister Václav Riedelbauch spoke about the fact that music and poetry belong together: “The poems of Tomáš Zdechovský are very interesting and appealing to me. He pushes the boundaries of poetry. He works very hard with emotion, as well as with music. Poetry and music are related dishes." Boni pueri accompanied the verses of Zdechovský, which are translated into several languages, including Japanese and Hebrew, and which can be found in libraries in places as diverse as the Vatican and Otava, on their way to the minds of the readers with the composition Nella Fantasia by E. Morricone from the Oscar winning movie, The Mission. In this piece, a Boni pueri soloist gave a great solo with the accompaniment of the world renowned pianist Miroslav Sekera.

January 13, 2011 • Boni pueri shone in the Philharmonic

This season Hradec Kralove Philharmonic Orchestra prepared one of its most memorable projects. One of the leading czech conductors, Leoš Svárovský, and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra played Symphony No. 3 „Kaddish“ from Leonard Bernstein. For the boys choral part the conductor chose the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri.
Along with the „good boys“ also performed soloist of the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre in Brno, Jana Wallingerová, and the Kühn Mixed Choir. The work was accompanied by a beautiful, deeply personal prayer, in which the audience heard the excellent Czech actress and opera singer Soňa Červená. After the monumental and howling conclusion, the packed auditorium leapt to their feet and applauded the artists.
„The performance of the Boys Choir Boni pueri thrilled me, Bernstein wrote a wonderful and challenging work. I also admire the incredible discipline of the boys, and their concentration, and absolute rhythmic precision. I would like to wish them full appreciation of the touch of music. I often think of the words of my father, who said that the spoken word and music are inseparably together and it´s not possible to cheat one of them. That's what was in my thoughts during the long years after emigration, when I was stripped of my country, of my parents and home. I fastened to my native language and music, that nobody could not take from me and that made me stronger. The beautiful sopranos and altos of the boys from Boni pueri today remind of the purity of both. I look forward to the next meeting with the boys and their choirmaster Pavel Horák at another beautiful work,“ says Soňa Červená. Today´s concert was attended by many media, which testifies that the performance of Bernstein's Symphony was a really extraordinary enterprise.

The documentary about today's performance will be broadcast on Czech Television on the programme Terra Musica.

With the change of year, the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri has once again written a succesful chapter in its history, which could be called without hesitation The Year of important places, personalities and tours abroad.
St. Nicholas Church on the Malá Strana in Prague, in which Boni pueri started 2011, was not the only important place, where the singers performed last year. Together with the highest clergy and important personalities from social life, the „good guys“ accompanied the new Prague archbishop Mons. ThLic. Dominik Duka, at his festive enthronement into the St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert Cathedral at Prague Castle, where Boni pueri performed sacred works. The Roman basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore welcomed Boni pueri at a gala concert celebrating twenty years of renewed diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and the Vatican. At the concert, which was organized by the Czech Embassy to the Vatican, the choir performed sacred works from Antonín Dvořák.
The beautiful Spanish Hall and the Rudolph Gallery at Prague Castle were other places where Boni pueri performed, this time on the occasion of the visit of the President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlerse.
Additonally, their appearance at the gala at the birthplace of Gustav Mahler in Kaliště near Humpolec, which was held on the 150th anniversary of his birth, was a beautiful musical occasion for the soprano and alto singers. At the concert, which was attended by President Václav Klaus and which was televised by several foreign television stations, Boni pueri performed with the Prague Philharmonic Choir and soloist Thomas Hampson. All the protagonists were rewarded with great praise in professional journals.
However, Boni pueri collaborates not only with great international artists. An important moment in 2010 was the start of sustained cooperation with leading conductor and artistic director of Musica Florea, Marek Štryncl. In addition to Pavel Horák, the director and choirmaster of Boni pueri, he became an another conductor of the concert group. The „good Boys“ is accompanied by an excellent pianist of world renown Jitka Fowler Fraňková, Vice-President of EPTA Czech Republic, who has performed with many world orchesters and soloists.
Boni pueri reopened the path to other musical genres with their intensive cooperation with the thirteen-time golden nightengale Lucie Bílá, when they recorded a christmas album, "Lucie Bílá 's White Chrismas," along with the Petr Maláseks Band and the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and with whom they made a two month long tour of the Czech and Slovak Republics. They sang for the presidents of prestigious music agencies and their name is listed in a catalog, which promotes the 50 best music groups in the world.
The Czech national anthem, which sounded so majestically as presented by the "good boys" in early 2010 and again this year, symbolically closed a successful season and at the same time brought forth new musical opportunities for Boni pueri.
