PAVEL HORÁK

Pavel Horák joined Boni Pueri in 1987 as conductor and became its artistic director in 1996. Dr. Horák has given more than a thousand performances with the choir on concert tours in the Czech Republic and abroad in Europe, USA, Japan and South Korea. Among the highlights of his conducting career are his regular performances of Bach’s St Matthew’s Passion in several prestigious concert halls in Holland.

In 1999, Dr. Horák completed his doctoral studies in choral conducting under professor Jiří Kolář at Charles University in Prague, where he also earned his Ph.D. Dr. Horák has taught for the Music Department at the University of Hradec Králové, Faculty of Education as well as Charles University School of Pedagogy. He is the Head Master of the Boni Pueri Choir School and a current member of the Rotary Club.
 

MAREK ŠTRYNCL

Already during his studies at the Conservatory in Teplice, he held office as concertmaster of the North Bohemian Philharmonic. He graduated on the Prague Academy of Music in conducting (2002) and studied cello at the Dresdner Akademie für Alte Musik. As a conductor and choirmaster he cooperates with prominent chamber and symphony orchestras, choirs, ensembles and soloists (eg, Magdalena Kožená, Philippe Jaroussky, The New Israeli Vocal Ensemble, Prague Chamber Philharmonic). Interest in contemporary interpretation brang him in 1992 to the founding of the ensemble Musica Florea, which brings the newly discovered authors primarily from the Czech Baroque and Classicism. He has performed at prestigious festivals (Prague Spring, Resonanzen Vienna, Festival van Vlaanderen Brugge, Tage Alter Musik in Sopron, Tage Alter und Neuer Musik Regensburg, the Strings of Autumn, Concentus Moraviae). He recorded dozens of CDs, many of them won top awards (Diapason 1994, Harmony Gold 1997 Cannes Classical Award 2003). Mr. Štryncl teaches conducting, conducting of church music and baroque cello at the Charles University in Prague. Ten years ago he began his cooperation with the Czech Boys Choir Boni pueri (J. D. Zelenka: Response, W. A. Mozart: Requiem, P. J. Vejvanovský: Vesperae Sancti Venceslai, Händel's Messiah). The recording of Zelenka's Sub olea pacis et palma virtutis won the prestigious 2003 Cannes Classical Award. In 2010 he came to the Czech boys Choir Boni pueri as a conductor of the concert group.
